Neth

PCP

So, Comic Con was totally amazing, as always. I got to hang out with some of my favorite artists, including PCP, Buff Monster, and Bwana Spoons. I bought so many toys, I am going to need a new cabinet! I picked up the Comic Con exclusive Firefly Treeson (he's Orange!), a huge collection of Neth creatures, plus a gorgeous new Neth print, 3 signed PCP prints, a bunch of cool stuff from Unkl, some Gloomy Bear stuff, the sold out Tado Madl, plus the new Miss Mindy and CJ Metzger toys! Phew!

I have a new TokyoBunnie Myspace, which I am going to use as a forum to find out about upcoming shows and events that I can post about here. I would love it if you added me as your friend!

'Bestial' at Iguapop Gallery

Miss Van has curated a group show in Barcelona at Iguapop Gallery entitled "Bestial". There are some amazing artists in this show, including Miss Van, Aiko, Fawn Gehweiler, Mademoiselle Kat, Junko Mizuno, Ciou, Jeremy Fish, and others. This show looks amazing! I wish I could go!!

New works by Miss Van!

I just received an email from Galerie Magda Danysz in Paris about these two new gorgeous Miss Van paintings. I am in love with these! Miss Van's most recent work has such a luxurious feminine quality- and I love the color palette. Her work in the last few years is much softer than what she was painting on the streets, although I love that work as well. If I had the money, I would buy these in a second!!!

Buff Fest THIS Weekend in LA

If you live in LA, don't forget about the Buff Fest this Sunday, July 22nd! I know you might have an electro-hangover from Daft Punk the night before, but that's no excuse! Schedule as follows:

MunkyKing: Noon-3 pm The toys finally go on sale!

Barracuda: 4-7 pm Limited Edition Secret toy available!

Free stuff and Buff Monster prizes and signings! Show up!

Catalina Estrada & Nineteen Seventy Three

I found the work of Barcelona based Catalina Estrada thanks to the lovely Creature Comforts blog. While looking at Catalina's work, I came upon the amazing Nineteen Seventy Three site, which features Cards, Gift Wrap, Cushions, and Lampshades by an array of different artists. Definitely a site worth bookmarking!

Belts are here!!!

YAY!! Get them here!!!

It's *Bling* time!

Aww ya, it's time for you to get your very own TokyoBunnie bling! New acrylic screen- printed necklaces are up in the Bored Inc. store! Go check 'em out!!

SF Art Shows

Kelly Tunstall & Ferris Plock

This weekend in SF was amazing! I loved the Tree Show at Giant Robot, and there was also a great show up at Double Punch (I'll post pics of that show soon). The Tree Show went up online today, so if you can't make it to SF, you can see all the pieces here.

Apak!

New Pins!

Sorry for the lack of posting... I have been swamped trying to get ready for Comic Con! I am headed up to SF this weekend for the Tree Show at Giant Robot, and I am super excited!

These cute enamel pins just came in, and I'll have them up on the webstore early next week! There is a cupcake, candy, russian doll, and of course, a tokyobunnie! Next week, the belts should be arriving!

The New Birds @ Grasshut

"The New Birds" is a group show at Grass Hut Gallery in Portland with over 30 participating artists. Proceeds from the show benefit Portland's Audubon Society. I LOVE the Apak bird house, it is so cute!! Other participating artists include: Amy Morrison, Martin Ontiveros, Katy Horan, Matthew Feyld, and Amy Ruppel (image shown below).

Miss Mindy & CJ Metzger : Backyard Bliss

If you wake up Sunday drenched in sweat from this awful heat wave and are itchin' to see some good art, head over to my pals Miss Mindy & CJ Metzger's Backyard Bliss. Mindy claims it will be a haven of women and booze, so I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't show up!

Gary Baseman : Hide and Seek in the Forest of ChouChou

New paintings by Gary Baseman will be up next weekend at Billy Shire Fine Arts in Culver City. I am not a huge Baseman fan, but I thought I should post this anyhow.

Marion Lane : Chasing The Rabbit

Marion Lane's Solo Exhibit, 'Chasing the Rabbit' opens this weekend at BLK/MRKT in Culver City. Here is the press release, from Flavorpill LA:
LA-based painter Marion Lane is obsessed with the ways in which information can be poked, prodded, and pumped in order to manipulate consumers. From advertising to political news, sitcoms to pharmaceuticals, Lane believes that when media and television do their jobs effectively, viewers don't even realize they're being brainwashed. While choosing the analog idiom of abstract painting is an odd avenue to explore these ideas, her application of theories about manufacturing beauty and the dysfunctional relationship of the natural and artificial worlds both seduces and shimmers. *Be sure to watch the commercial for the show, it's rad!

Familie Foef

My favorite place to spend time online is flickr, and that's because it's an amazing forum for artists to showcase their work and get feedback. The comments I get from my Flickr friends always lift my spirits, and I find myself working hard to finish products so I can post photos! Today I stumbled upon these amazing plushies, made in the Netherlands by Sarah Vos. I love all the great vintage fabrics she uses, and how each character has so much personality! There isn't any info on the website, but I think you can e-mail Sarah to purchase a member of her Familie Foef.

Stella Im Hultberg

Seems I am posting this a little late, as Stella has already closed her online shop. She is doing so well, she can't manage it anymore (best reason I can think of to close your shop!). You can still get her gorgeous art through other venues though, like Poketo or Gelaskins. I am smitten with her pouty lipped, swirly hair girls. Visit her blog, or her site.
