Catalina Estrada & Mark Todd

Really excited for the show opening this weekend at La Luz de Jesus, featuring Catalina Estrada and Mark Todd.
I have posted about the wonderful Catalina before, (check the labels for previous posts). You can see her flickr account for additional artwork, or her Myspace, here. I am really looking forward to seeing her work in person!

I <3 Takashi Murakami

This weekend, I had my own adventure in Wonderland. The ©MURAKAMI show is so absolutely mind-blowing, I can scarcely believe it was even real. It felt like I was walking through the most amazing place you could ever imagine. If there hadn't been a million people, making me sweat profusely and have to push my way to the front lines, I would have thought the whole experience was a dream. Even if you aren't a huge Murakami fan, this is a show you cannot miss. Fly, drive, hitch, whatever it takes to get to LA- you must go and see this show.

Extra special highlight of the evening... after filling out the MOCA membership forms, Dan and I notice Murakami sitting on the steps outside the museum, and ask him to sign Dan's now worse for wear panda keychain that I bought in Tokyo. Not only did he sign it, he drew on it! He was so nice, and I am so happy I was able to refrain from squealing with sheer adoration at the utter and total master of everything I love.

©MURAKAMI runs through February 11. I will be there many, many days between now and then, and you should be there too.

I almost don't want to post any photos of this show, no picture can do it any justice at all.

Bountee

Axelhoney, yay!

No, not the paper towels, this is an awesome t-shirt company. At Bountee, you submit your designs, they make 'em, sell 'em, and you get some dough in the process. A bit like Threadless, but I don't think there is a voting process involved with Bountee. They have some awesome shirts, at great prices, so head over and check 'em out.

This one is perfect for Dan!

Kyo Hashimoto

I have been eyeing the lovely necklaces from Kyo Hashimoto for quite some time. They are pretty pricey, but I think I am going to have to just give in and get one. There really isn't anything else out there that looks like this!

Jennifer Zwick

I laughed so hard at Jennifer Zwick's website, I almost peed my pants. I'm serious, it is, she is, totally amazing. I read every inch of it, and I want MORE! Ever look at someone's work and think that you must know this person? Well, Jennifer, you have a standing invitation over to my house, because I adore you.
I thought it couldn't get any better, then I saw her links. Her first link is a "mini site" and guess what? It is her website, but MINI!! Brilliant.

Go adore her with me, here.

Read each and every one of the 100 "What could go wrong" series, which is both hillarious, touching, and sad, then giggle at all of the "anonymous animals".

If you are in Seattle, I am insanely jealous, but go to this anyway:
I'm So Scared/It's All So Hard

Charley Harper "An Illustrated Life"

I saw this amazing book, Charley Harper, An Illustrated Life, at Fitzsu a couple weeks back. I meant to post about it, and was reminded today when I saw the post on Oh Joy about this wonderful book. The illustrations are lovely, and I was especially taken with the insect and bird images.

This huge book was designed and edited by the wonderful Todd Oldham, who worked in conjunction with Charlie for 5 years to select works spanning his 6 decade long illustration career. It's definitely an inspiring, creative look at nature and design, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Flickr Favorite: The Small Object

Next up in my Flickr Favorites is The Small Object. So simple, yet so unbelievably adorable, I always find myself inspired by everything Sarah makes. There's an amazing array of rubber stamps, stationery, stamper necklaces, and, my personal favorite, the clothespin people! (Sarah has made over 400 clothespin people in all!) I really love every aspect of The Small Object- the creativity in the product design, the simplicity, the color palettes, it's all very lovely. You can visit The Small Object flickr page here, the online shop here, and Sarah's blog, here.
The holiday season is coming up, and I am certain that someone you love wants a clothespin person!

Strapya

If you are like me, you collect cute, useless things until you have so many of them, you don't even know where to put them. Well, prepare yourself, because is an entire website of cute things that you don't need. Strapya is chock full of Japanese cell phone straps, charms, and other phone related accessories. Some of my favorites are pictured, but there are too many amazing styles to even list. Check them all out, here.

Camille Rose Garcia : Escape to Darlingtonia

Gorgeous new works by Camille Rose Garcia are now on display at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. You can view all of the show pieces here, the show will be up until November 17th. I've always been drawn to Camille's work, and this show is no disappointment. The animal based pieces are my favorites, but of course the simpler pieces are amazing as well.

Bored Inc. at Enna!!

Owning my own business definitely has it's ups and downs. Sometimes I have to take on projects that I don't find especially inspiring, and they tend to bring me down. That has been happening a lot lately, and I have been finding it difficult to create anything new. Today, however, as I was checking out one of my favorite blogs, Decor8, I happened upon a post about the German store, Enna.
I have been filling a lot of store orders lately, some for stores here in the States, and some International. I haven't really had the opportunity to see my stuff in cute stores where I would love to shop... but then LOOK! In this amazing little store, filled with all kinds of wonderfulness, including a lot of Princess Tina stuff, which I love, are my wall decals & coin purses! I nearly jumped out of my chair with excitement. I have never been so proud of my little products before!

Subtext : Kokeshi

I collect kokeshi dolls, and I love how they always have different expressions and cute little faces, just like matryoshkas. I thought a while ago how fun it would be to have all my friends paint a blank Kokeshi. Subtext in San Diego had the same idea, and next month "Kokeshi" opens, featuring 75 artists from 13 countries. Julie West, Miss Mindy, Audrey Kawasaki, and more. What a cool show!!

TokiDoki : Bruttino and Carina

I have a love / hate relationship with TokiDoki these days. I'll always love Simone's work, but I just think the line is really over-extended right now.
In any case, the prototypes for his new cactus friends toys are super duper cute.

Lowie : Fall Collection

It's pretty drizzly outside, and I am overjoyed that Fall has arrived! I'd like to get cozy in just about everything from the Lowie fall collection. I'm especially liking the little ribbon trimmings on the gloves and suspenders. The crocheted berets are gorgeous, and I love the colors they used- lots of mustard yellow, forest green, plums and gray.
