Etsy : Bismo080

I am really liking these cute illustrated products in the Bangkok based Bismo080 Etsy shop. I'm a sucker for anything with a nesting doll on it! Of course, the bunnies and pandas are winning me over, too!

Studio Nommo

The wallpaper on this Studio Nommo site is amazing... I think it's wallpaper. I can't read the site.

Fred Flare : Items for your home

Fred Flare is one of my favorite places to shop online, and they have some really cute items for your home right now!
Chores could actually be fun if your vacuum cleaner looked like an elephant, and I think all food would taste better if it was cooked in a panda skillet!

Etsy : TillyBloom

A bit similar to the Paraphernalia necklaces I posted before, but these TillyBloom designs are a bit more wonderfully creepy!

Take your pick... horses, cats or pigeons in victorian dresses, sections of a jawbone, a pelvis... the choice is yours! Who doesn't want to wear a broken jaw around their neck!?

My favorite is definitely Odette. I am saving up. I must own her.

Im F*ing Seth Rogen!

I wasn't privy to the whole Sarah Silverman / Jimmy Kimmel video war until last night, but apparently... Sarah is f*ing Matt Damon, while Jimmy is f*ing Ben Affleck.

Now, I am very happy that Seth Rogen has been thrown into the mix... he would definitely be my top choice over Matt & Ben! Plus, even though Jimmy's video is full of A-listers, I think Seth's is funnier!

Barry the Beaver

Artist Jeremy Fish has created a vibrating beaver vinyl toy for all of your *ahem* needs... This ingenious little fellow launches at the end of this month, at Ningyoushi.

Meomi Prints

The dynamic Meomi duo have some really lovely prints availble. Had I the funds to buy one, I'm not sure I could choose which I liked best!

New Murakami Print

Yayyyy! The Murakami print we bought at © Murakami is finally framed and up on the wall! It had been boxed up in cardboard for so long, I had forgotten how much I love it! It's huge- the biggest piece of art in our loft. We moved our Murakami 'Jellyfish Eyes' out of it's spot above the desk, and this fit perfectly there. Now I get to look at it whenever I am at the computer!

The Murakami prints are always printed on a slightly metallic silver paper- it really adds depth to the art. One of my favorite things about Murakami's work is his use of colors. Always so many colors, and there always seems to have been a masterplan. On the audio tour at the show, he talked about one piece that incorporated thousands of colors- it took him over 2 years just to plan out what colors to use where! They had initial sketches of his work, which he would photocopy and then color with colored pencils, and then take that and convert it to color codes (or what I assumed were Pantone Swatches). It was really great to see the process and thought involved in his choices.

Naoshi

I fell in love with the work of Japanese artist Naoshi about a year ago, when I found her on Myspace. Naoshi creates her work using the Japanese method of Sunae, which means she uses colored sand to create the illustations. I used to play around with sand art as a kid- and if you did too, then you know how difficult it is! Mine never turned out right, there was always colors all mixed up and I usually ended up with more sand all over myself than on my artwork.
That's why I am in such awe of these pieces! Not only do I love the illustrations themselves- ice cream haired girls and sundae sittin' ladies... but when you think that they are made of sand! Totally amazing!
Naoshi has a website, here, and a great little Etsy shop where you can get prints of her work, here.

Be Kind Rewind

Okay, I will admit, I had pretty low expectations for Be Kind Rewind. I saw it for three reasons:

1. Michel Gondry (Genius, love him)

2. Jack Black (Genius, love him)

3. Mos Def (Genius, love him)

So, these reasons were enough for me... and I went to see the movie about the man who becomes magnetized and erases a video shop full of films, and then has to re-create them. Yes, I thought it was a silly plot, and the trailer even looked pretty awful.

But, you know what? I LOVED IT! It was hysterical, and so so so clever- in that way that only a Gondry film can be clever. The ideas and props are so ingenious... I don't want to spoil it for you. Go see it, and prepare to be pleasantly surprised!

Etsy : Kezzaroo

Quite possibly the best gift you could ever bestow upon another human being? Why, a 3 1/2" felt Ron Burgundy pin of course!

If you want to REALLY show your love and undying affection, there is a larger plushie, which comes complete with a jazz flute. I really can't think of a better gift... these are truly too amazing for me to even comprehend.

Will Ferrell not your style? Why there are other choices, of course... you could go with Mr. T, The Hoff, or, my personal choice, The Golden Girls 4 -pack. That's right; Blanche, Rose, Sophia and Dorothy can be yours... in tiny felt form.

Head on over to the Kezzaroo shop and pick your 80's icon -in felt- today!

Etsy : Argyle Whale

It's Etsy favorites time... a recent bout of insomnia has filled my tank with new Etsy loves!

First up is Argyle Whale by Elise Towle Snow. This shop has Gocco prints of bunnies, whales covered in barnacles, piles of guinea pigs, and so on and so forth. The bunnies are even wearing scarves! If I could get my bunnies to wear scarves, it would be a very happy day!
I love these prints- they are simple but wonderful. I have a Gocco and it's so amazing and has so many wonderful capabilities that I never use it. It sits in my closet, sad and dusty, because when I pull it out I think of 1,001 things I want to make, and I get too overwhelmed and so I put it back.
I am glad to see that's not the case for Elise, and I am happy to have stumbled upon her wonderful shop. She also has a blog, which you will find here.

Two Lines Align

Why do wonderful things happen when you are sick in bed!?
Last night was the opening reception for Two Lines Align : Drawings and Graphic Design by Ed Fella and Geoff McFettridge at RedCat in Downtown LA.

I've become increasingly fond of Geoff McFettridge's work. The more I pay attention to it, the more wonderful and poignant it is. His video for The Whitest Boy Alive's song "Golden Cage" is hands down, my most favorite illustrated music video.

Although I missed the opening, I found some great pics of the show via the Beautiful Decay site, which linked me to the Kitsune Noir posting with pictures of the opening. I will see the show before it leaves, and try to take some pics of my own. I haven't seen a Geoff McFettridge show before, so I am really looking forward to it.

Pool Faves : For the Ladies

Now it's time for the lady-land finds... there was a lot I liked, so here we go!

All-Mighty : Boston Terrier inspired loveliness... they have super cute tees, dresses, plushies, and more! Their artwork is so adorable!

Liz SaintSing: I know I have seen this stuff in little boutiques around LA, and it's always pretty amazing. Vintage goods updated with screen prints of insects & birds... you can't buy very much of it online, but I am really loving this Jellyfish slip!

Track+Field : I am obsessed with these bags! I first saw them at Giant Robot, and I wanted one so bad (it was a little pricey at $95, and didn't get it... of course now they don't have it anymore!) These bags are so original, and the vintage color palettes are perfect. They are made out of Sunbrella acrylic fabric (which is water & fade resistant!)

Stella Neptune : Vintage clothing for Men, Women & Kids with cool screen prints... I bought the cutest little beaver tote bag, but it's not on their site. Some of the sweathshirts are pretty awesome... and I like the skirts, too!

Scolar : Why oh why didn't I try to buy some of this at the show!?! This Japanese company has some of the cutest, most original clothing I have ever seen. I want it all :(

Purlieu : Screened t-shirt dresses in awesome neon colors with great graphics. No website yet, so keep checking back and hopefully we can buy online soon.

FarylRobin Footwear : Loving these girlie shoes! I wonder if they are comfortable? I don't ever buy cute dressy shoes because they alway end up hurting my feet.
