'California Love' at Leanna Lin's Wonderland

I am super late posting this, but I created three original paper cuts for the California Love show at Leanna Lin's Wonderland! I really enjoyed working on this theme! I'm a California native, raised in Los Angeles and now residing in San Francisco, so there's tons of stuff I really love about The Golden State. I knew right away my first piece for the show would be Sea Otters- my all time favorite animal! I also did a piece featuring the California Bear, since it's the BEST animal to have as a state mascot, and my third piece is a burger and taco- California's best foods!

The show runs through April 24th and there's lots of great work by other artists that you can check out on Leanna's online shop here.

"Dreams" at Leanna Lin's Wonderland

I'm a little late posting this, but I am part of a fantastic group show at Leanna Lin's Wonderland! All pieces for this show are cash and carry, and if you can't make it to the shop, you can get them online, ready to ship!

Here's the show details- I still have a couple of pieces available!

Audrey Kawasaki 'Hirari Hirari' at Merry Karnowsky Gallery

Absolutely stunning new work by Audrey Kawasaki for her new show 'Hirari Hirari' at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. You can see all her new pieces on her blog, here. The delicate intricacies she creates around the female form serve to add such a unique aspect of intimacy, and I always appreciate the ways she brings in the natural environment, both through painting on wood and also beautifully crafting the flora and fauna that surround her canvases.

Brandi Milne "Here Inside My Broken Heart"

Absolutely beautiful work by Brandi Milne for her newest exhibition,"Here Inside My Broken Heart", which is on view through July 12th at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. I love the portrayal of earth's most powerful beasts- whales, elephants, dinosaurs- in such vulnerable states in some of these paintings. It makes the work so powerful, yet so fragile at the same time.

Yoskay Yamamoto "House of Daydreamers" at Giant Robot

I've been a huge fan of Yoskay Yamamoto's work for the last several years. His distinct artwork is so original and captivating- it's like being home and being somewhere entirely new at the same time. I'm so excited about the support he's always gotten from my favorite LA gallery Giant Robot over the years. This Saturday May 17th marks the opening of his newest show, "House of Daydreamers", and from the preview images surfacing online, it's going to be an incredible show.

Story Time Group Show

We were super excited to be asked to be a part of Oscar Rosales' Story Time Group show at Monkeyhouse Toys! The show opens this weekend and includes an amazing roster of artists. RSVP to the event on Facebook here!

The goal of the show was to create a character you would have liked to see as a kid. Here's our story and our party-dress wearing hippo!

In first grade, I wrote a story about a hippo wearing a polka dot party dress. When my teacher asked me what was wrong with the story, I thought I'd made some kind of grammatical error. I never thought she'd question my dress-wearing hippo. It was the first time I realized that not everyone shared my creativity- in my house, hippos DID wear dresses. This hippo became a kind of hero for my childhood, helping me to realize what a true gift creativity really is.
