poop pandas

I looooooove panda bears. Every time I go on vacation, I make sure to visit the zoo if it has a panda. (International pandas are the best kind, sorry San Diego!)
I found this article via NotCot.org, and it made me chuckle. I'd probably buy one of these, but could you get it through customs?

Staff at a Panda breeding facility in Sichuan province, China, have come up with a rather novel way of ridding themselves of the tonne-a-day waste that their bears produce.

Rather than just dumping the stuff, the workers are turning the bear poo into trinkets and models, fashioning the stinky material into anything from picture frames to Olympic logos. The talented lot are even making miniature pandas out of the stuff.

The stinky gifts are then sold on to tourists visiting Chengdu panda sanctuary. 'We used to spend at least £400 a month to get rid of the droppings but now they can prove lucrative as half of them will be sold as souvenirs,' said Jing Shimin from the centre.

haha, a real-life pooh bear :)

  1. i have a co-worker who is fanatical about pandas - he even has shirts with pandas on them. so once when i was at the san diego wild animal park i got him a notebook made out of panda poo. could their poop be the worlds answer for no longer using trees for paper? forget hemp, use poop!
