I got this video from the Bust website. It was apparently created by Dove, who has been on a "real woman" advertising kick the last year or so. Seems cool, but I guess the company who owns Dove also owns Slim Fast and Axe. It always really pisses me off when something seemingly meaningful turns out to be just another marketing ploy targeted at an unknowing consumer. It is so sad that the "positive" marketing aimed at our young girls only has money on the mind. I see first hand the effects that modern marketing and the media-ideal woman has on young girls. My sister is only 11, and her group of friends talk constantly about dieting, their breasts, impressing boys, etc. I wish we were a nation more attune to the impact we are having on these girls, and the long term effects on their emotional, and physical well-being.
