Kid Robot kinda sucks...

I have to finally post about this, because it has been irking me for awhile now. I like the toys KidRobot makes. I like that they find awesome people to work with. But, well, I don't like KidRobot. I don't like their attitudes, like they are doing you a huge favor letting you purchase something from them, and I am so annoyed at everything they make being sold out 3 minutes after it's released. I wanted to buy a Space Invader Dunny this week, but of course, already gone. I can buy him from other vendors, and I would rather give them my business anyway, I just wanted to vent a bit about stupid KidRobot and their stupid ways of doing business. They are especially bad at Comic Con, when the lines to get anything from them start 6 hours before the item is actually going to be sold, making it impossible for fellow vendors to get anything, and then when it's sold out, it's like a big joke to them that all these people waited for nothing. Come on people! You are making toys for rad artists who would never treat their fans this way. Just be nice and be thankful that people are lining up to buy your shit in the first place!

Okay, done with my rant.

I totally agree, Kid Robot does make some kick ass toys but going to the store is just a bad experience. At their New York Store at least. Depending on the person that is. The worst thing about them selling out of things is that most of the people are just going to post it on eBay. Sigh….

  2. Yeah, the LA store is shitty too. I have had better experiences at the SF store, but not that much better. This toy is already on Ebay- for $135!! :(

  3. I haven't had the misfortune of their store experience, but I think their shipping charges are outrageous! I bought 5 little blind boxes 2 weeks ago and shipping was almost $9! Shipping from another store for an entire case of 20 was $10, same distance from me. If I can get their new releases elsewhere, I do.

  4. I have always had the BEST experience with Magic Pony, based out of Toronto. The people who work there are always so kind, and they have pricing that has always been competitive.

The Dunny Invaders toy is in stock at Magic Pony...plus they have the raddest Blythe Dolls.

  5. I agree, I LOVE Magic Pony. Plus, they use Cram Cream tape to ship out the packages :)

I agree with you, I think they more than kind of suck though. I just had an incredibly bad experience with Kidrobot and it is still ongoing! The owner needs to spend some of his millions on Customer Service.

I ordered clothes during their KidRobot Loves you sale.. well... I've been waiting for it.. and they sent me a email saying that they falsely indicated that it was In Stock. If I hadn't sent them an email, asking about my order, I doubt they would send me one telling me about my order being not "In Stock".

  8. Ugh what a nightmare... someone needs to step in and take a serious look at these issues before people stop shopping there!

I have had nothing but trouble with Kidrobot, as a consumer and as a business dealing with them. We ordered a very expesive toy from them, only to have it shipped with no packaging whatsoever, and it has a huge dent in the side, obviously being kicked. We sent in the picture of the item, and the customer service person on the phone said it was sold out, and they couldn't exchange it, so tough. So we had to keep our damaged item that cost us $80. We later ran into them at Toy Fair and told them we were leery about dealing with them after our experience. After much talk, we agreeded to give them a second try and they promosed us a replacement toy of equal value of the one that was damaged. They gave us a USB of their price sheet (for store vendors to make orders), it turns out they gave us the wrong price sheet, and not toys, but clothes. After emailing them to let them know we had the wrong drive, they then sent us a rude message as if it were some sort of privilage that we even get to talk to them. We are a store buying your products in bulk, it is your privilage that we want to carry your product, not the other way around. So we never got our replacement figure as promised, nore the proper price sheet. We are basically left with 4 more bad experiences to add to our previous one. They are disorganized, and unprofessional. If they will treat a vendor willing to spend thousands of dollars in that manner, I can only imagine how poorly they treat regular people.

  10. Kid Robot is a joke look at the release of Huck Gee , sat up all night to only find that most users did not have a buy option , it was replaced with sold out instead ?called customer service and they said basically yeah it sucks ? wow thats customer service ? advertise 650 figures only put 69 on your website and then the buy option is only available to certain people ? shady secondary market
