Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty

I found out this week that "Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty" at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles is being extended by another month and will now be on view through May 31, 2015! This makes me super happy, because I've been itching to take a trip down to LA to check it out before it leaves, and I haven't had the chance yet. The show even has it's own app (here's the link!).

Below are two art pieces from the exhibition, by Brandi Milne and Gary Baseman.

Brandi Milne "Soothe Yourself"

I am smitten with this upcoming Black Friday print release from Brandi Milne!

"Soothe Yourself" will be available as a 10"x10" fine art print on Friday Nov. 28th, edition of 40, each print comes with an adorable little hand drawn tooth! Sale will be at Brandi's shop, here.

Brandi Milne "Here Inside My Broken Heart"

Absolutely beautiful work by Brandi Milne for her newest exhibition,"Here Inside My Broken Heart", which is on view through July 12th at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. I love the portrayal of earth's most powerful beasts- whales, elephants, dinosaurs- in such vulnerable states in some of these paintings. It makes the work so powerful, yet so fragile at the same time.

Brandi Milne’s ‘Bunny Go Ride’

I love this SDCC release 3DRetro "Bunny Go Ride" by Brandi Milne! So cute!

Via Vinyl Pulse
3DRetro will release their ‘Bunny Go Ride’ vinyl figure from OC painter Brandi Milne @ SDCC. Drawn from her paintings, the piece nicely captures her aesthetic and characters. Based on the pic, this looks to be one of the nicer painting based art toys in recent memory. The apparent hand-touched rust/patina deco on the bunny ride really helps to give the work a ‘painted’ rather than printed look. This first edition is limited to 100 pieces, measures 7” across, and will be available from the October Toys/Toy Break booth (#4838) at SDCC for $90. Brandi will be signing at the booth on Saturday @ 1 PM PDT. Also, look for an exclusive print release.
