Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty

I found out this week that "Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty" at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles is being extended by another month and will now be on view through May 31, 2015! This makes me super happy, because I've been itching to take a trip down to LA to check it out before it leaves, and I haven't had the chance yet. The show even has it's own app (here's the link!).

Brandi Milne "Here Inside My Broken Heart"

Absolutely beautiful work by Brandi Milne for her newest exhibition,"Here Inside My Broken Heart", which is on view through July 12th at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. I love the portrayal of earth's most powerful beasts- whales, elephants, dinosaurs- in such vulnerable states in some of these paintings. It makes the work so powerful, yet so fragile at the same time.

Vive La Lolligag Art Show & Toy Release

TokyoBunnie favorite Lolligag has a vinyl toy release party and custom toy event going on this weekend in Los Angeles to celebrate the release of their beautiful new vinyl toy! Miss Van: 'Room for Cream' at Soze Gallery now online

Horray! Miss Van's 'Room for Cream' is now online. I'm trying not to post the whole show, which you can check out here, but it's difficult because everything is so beautiful! I don't know how she does it, but she never ceases to amaze me with her talent!

Miss Van at 7th & Mateo DTLA

Although I wasn't able to attend Miss Van's 'Room for Cream' opening over the weekend at Soze Gallery, I did manage to check out her new mural at 7th and Mateo in downtown Los Angeles. It's right next to the beautiful piece she created in 2012, which I blogged about here. Check this out if you're in LA. It's absolutely beautiful in person.

Super excited to see the always lovely Miss Van has a show entitled "Room for Cream" opening September 21st at Soze Gallery in Los Angeles. While there aren't many details yet, Hi Fructose did recently publish a preview of some of her newest work.

Junko Mizuno "Euphoria"

The wonderful Junko Mizuno currently has a solo exhibition, "Euphoria", at La Luz de Jesus in Los Angeles. There's several new paintings and illustrations, which can be viewed here. Show runs January 4 - 27, 2013.

Seonna Hong: Persistence of Vision

Seonna Hong is one of my favorite artists, so I was really excited to see that she has a new solo show opening Oct 13th at LeBasse Projects in Los Angeles!

Miss Van "Wild at Heart" at Copro Gallery

I'm writing this post a bit begrudgingly, as I'd like nothing more than to finally get to attend a Miss Van solo show opening. Alas, this show, which I'd gladly have flown to LA for, falls on the first day of my vacation, and I'll be in New York. However, all you lucky Los Angeles folks can attend and tell me all about how amazing and lovely she is!
