‘Wonderland Art for Animals’ at Leanna Lin's Wonderland

I am excited to be taking part in 'Wonderland Art for Animals' at Leanna Lin's Wonderland, a show curated by Supahcute to benefit the North Central Animal Shelter! Our piece, Summer Pug, is a one-of-a-kind handmade applique:

Here's additional show info from the press release.

Wonderland Art for Animals

For the love of our furry, scaly, and feathered friends

Leanna Lin’s Wonderland and Supahcute are pleased to announce our second benefit art show, Wonderland Art For Animals. All net proceeds from this group art exhibition will be donated to the local North Central Animal Shelter.

Wonderland Art for Animals is a “cash and carry” art show with all pieces priced at $100 and lower. The group exhibition will open with a reception at Leanna Lin’s Wonderland in Eagle Rock on Saturday, July 18 (6-10pm). RSVP on the Facebook event page. The exhibition will run through August 23.

We are excited to raise funds for an organization that is such a vital resource for our community and its animals. The North Central Shelter is a high intake shelter operated by Los Angeles City Animal Services serving Northeast Los Angeles (and the surrounding areas). We believe it is important to support our local shelter, as it is often the last hope for thousands of L.A.’s dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens and other downtrodden pets.

The funds we raise will go to the “Spay/Neuter Trust Fund,” which provides low/no cost spay and neutering services to pets in low-income households and funds the mobile spay/neuter clinics, as well as the “Star Program”, which provides medical treatment to severely injured, abused and neglected animals that are rescued by LA Animal Services.

Last year our Doggie Wonderland Art Show raised over $4,500 for local rescue dogs and included over 100 pieces of artwork by artists around the world. It even resulted in Wonderland getting a new four-legged staff member, Indigo! We’re hoping this year we will exceed this amount and make an even larger impact on the welfare of L.A.’s animals in need.

Doggie Wonderland “Fun Adventures with your Best Friend” Art Benefit

"Doggie Wonderland", a group show curated by Supahcute and Leanna Lin, opens this weekend! We are super excited to be a part of this awesome show benefitting Ken-Mar Dog Rescue.

Show Details: (from Supahcute's Press Release)

Doggie Wonderland “Fun Adventures with Your Best Friend” is a “cash and carry” show with artwork and products all priced at $100 and lower. The show will open with a reception at Leanna Lin’s Wonderland on Saturday, May 10 (6-10pm).

The gallery will close its doors at 5:30pm. Those who want to purchase art will be asked to form a line outside. Numbered tickets will be distributed to the first 25 people in line at this time, and customers will be able to purchase art in that order. The first 25 people will also receive a special goodie bag with purchase. Doors will open at 6:00pm.

Due to the “cash and carry” nature of this show, we will not have an online preview period. After the opening event, remaining artwork will be available online at Leanna Lin’s webshop. Doggie Wonderland will run through June 29.

The opening event also features a raffle drawing and a silent auction. Raffle tickets will be sold from 6-9pm and winners will be announced at 9pm (you do not need to be present to win). Bids for the silent auction will be accepted until 9pm, and payments will be accepted at this time.

"Pablove One Another" Now Online!

Thank you so much to everyone who made it out this weekend for the "Pablove One Another" opening reception! It was a great night!

All of the artwork from the show is now online, and you can still get your hands on some awesome pieces! All the proceeds from these sales benefit The Pablove Foundation and you can purchase any of these pieces directly from Leanna Lin's Wonderland through October 28th.

P.S. Special thanks to Supahcute for taking great photos of the event- I didn't take ANY! You can see all her photos here! (I stole the pic for this post from her too, thanks Hana!)

Pablove One Another opens TOMORROW

I can't believe that the opening of Pablove One Another is finally here! When Leanna asked me to curate this show, nearly a year ago, I was beyond excited. Not only would I get the opportunity to work with artists that I admire, but I would be working on something for an incredibly important cause. Sometimes, the universe aligns in just the right way, and that's how I feel about this show. When I started contacting artists (and believe me- the final 48 participating artists is a fraction of all the amazing people I would have liked to ask to contribute), the responses I got were overwhelming and humbling. So much outpouring of love for this cause. I am sincerely grateful to everyone who has participated in this event, and especially to the amazing artists who have given us the opportunity to sell their work for PABLOVE!

I hope to see you at the opening reception tomorrow! 6-10 pm at Leanna Lin's Wonderland in Eagle Rock!

The ACVIM Foundation is a non-profit organization created in 2000 to support and advance the work of specialists in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM): small and large animal internists, cardiologists, neurologists, and oncologists. Because clinical studies in veterinary medicine are severely under funded, ACVIM specialists have long depended on the generosity of private donors and industry sponsors to support their research. The ACVIM Foundation exists to bridge the gap between available funding and the vital work that needs to be done. In addition, the ACVIM Foundation works to fulfill the need to raise public awareness that specialty medicine exists for our beloved companions. Through this education, animals can receive the best healthcare available in order to live longer, healthier lives.

H&M + Unicef "All for Children"

Photobucket

I walked into the giant H&M store in San Francisco this past weekend, and literally squealed with delight when I laid eyes upon their fall "All for Children" collection, a collaboration with Unicef. The collection features some of the cutest illustrated graphics, applique pieces, and vintage inspired textiles that I've ever seen in a children's line. I wanted to buy, literally, every piece in the collection. What's better is that everything is ultra-affordable, and the proceeds go to a great cause.

Would it be creepy to just buy one of everything, with the assumption that one day, I'll have kids to wear them?

From the H&M website: "25% of the sales price from the ALL THE CHILDREN collection will be donated to protect children's rights in Bangladesh, which will help provide access to schools. We believe that children who learn how to read and write are better equipped to make informed choices about their future."

They have an array of cool artist designed tees, including one by Brandi (above). Check them out- and make a difference by supporting this great company!
