Channeling the days of Valentine greetings being handed out at elementary school, the nervousness of silly little crushes and fears of past rejections. This is a modern-day twist on the little Valentine square. Whether your heartstrings are of song or scorn, there will be at least one little square that meets your heart's desire.

Rivet Gallery: Johnny Yanok "Pirates of the Isle of Misfit Toys"

There's a new show opening at Rivet this weekend, and it looks amazing! Perfect for picking up some art-lover holiday gifts! All three of these artists are amongst my personal favorites.

Here's all the details:

Rivet is proud to welcome back Ohio artist and CCAD alumnus Johnny Yanok for his solo exhibition, Pirates of the Isle of Misfit Toys. This show will feature original gouache work with theme embodying a pirate's life on an island of misfit toys. This will be the artist's fourth time exhibiting with Rivet.

Adding to the holiday cheer, we will begin the first of our Project Wall series shows. This show will feature the watercolor small works by California artists Dan Goodsell and Michael Fleming. This will be Dan's third time showing with Rivet and Michael's second.

Opening reception will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 7pm to 10pm during the Short North Arts District Holiday Hop. Festive treats provided by Rivet with complimentary beverages from The Actual Brewing Company.

This exhibition will be on display through December 31. Perfect opportunity to find some holiday gifts for family and friends.

Bob's Burgers Comic Release Party at Rivet

If you're a Bob's Burgers Fan, be sure to check out this event happening tomorrow (8/27) at Rivet!

Bob's Burgers is releasing their first comic book issue! AND Rivet is having a little celebration for our very own EXCLUSIVE RETAILER COVER of the first issue! Issue 1 variant features Beefsquatch and cover artwork by Tony Gennaro and Bernard Derriman. Rivet lives next door to Bob's Burgers on this cover! This release is an edition of 500 and available on the Rivet web site for $3.99 per copy.

Hello Ohio! Dan Goodsell at Rivet Gallery

Our friend Dan Goodsell of Mr. Toast's newest show opened this past weekend at Rivet Gallery, in celebration of their 7th anniversary (Happy Birthday, Rivet!). Check out all the pieces here, the show is on view until June 30th.

Hoang Tran's carved crayons at Rivet Gallery

Rivet Gallery's newest exhibition, opening this weekend, is the solo exhibition featuring carved wax crayon works by artist Hoang Tran. This show will present colorful interpretations of animation series in carved large size wax crayons.

Michael Fleming's Foliage: Curious Critters

Michael Flemming of Tweedlebop creates wonderful characters, and I am excited about his show opening at Rivet this weekend!

I've been a fan of Silvia Portella's work for a long time, and even own some of her prints. So I was really excited to see that she has a solo show opening at Rivet tomorrow!

An illustrator born in 1978 in Barcelona, Spain nowadays based in Berlin, Germany. Graduating in 2001 from the art and design school BAU in Barcelona and working in graphic design until giving her true passion, illustration a try. Silvia has done character design and illustration for companies such as Enser magazine, Poketo, and Pictoplasma just to name a few.

A really amazing lineup of artists will be participating in the 'Rock, Paper, Scissors:Paper Art Toy Exhibition' at Rivet Gallery, opening this weekend. There will be pieces by some of my favorites, including Ben the Illustrator, Lou Lou (of Lou Lou and Tummie), Dolly Oblong, and tons more. Show runs January 2nd - 31st.
