Absolutely stunning new work by Audrey Kawasaki for her new show 'Hirari Hirari' at Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles. You can see all her new pieces on her blog, here. The delicate intricacies she creates around the female form serve to add such a unique aspect of intimacy, and I always appreciate the ways she brings in the natural environment, both through painting on wood and also beautifully crafting the flora and fauna that surround her canvases.

The exhibition features an international roster of artists including Japanese mastersHokusai and Kuniyoshi in a display of original Edo period woodblock prints. "A group show based around the theme of tigers, inspired by the dynamic poem " The Tiger" by visionary artist and painter William Blake.
Additionally, 2010 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese calendar, and the animal is a very visible example of the environmental problem of habitat loss and rampant poaching, with the reported last wild Indochinese tiger being killed and eaten in December 2009.
We've asked a group of artists to create works inspired by this majestic, tragic, and beautiful creature, whether on a symbolic, metaphysical, or archetypal level or as a touchstone for deep contemporary issues.

The gorgeous work of Audrey Kawasaki will be exhibited in Japan for the first time this weekend. Her show at Space Yui will feature 9 new pieces. Read a great interview and see some preview pictures on the Arrested Motion blog.

Audrey Kawasaki : Two Sisters Print Release
Audrey Kawasaki is releasing her gorgeous new print, 'Two Sisters' tomorrow. Since it's always so difficult to get your hands on a print from her, anyone who purchases this between 12-1 tomorrow (Saturday 12/6) will be guaranteed a print. It's also only $100.
She is also releasing a much larger, framed version, for $580 tonight at 9pm.
Audrey Kawasaki : She Who Dares
Audrey Kawasaki is releasing a new print entitled 'She Who Dares' on her website this Sunday.
I attended the opening reception for 'The Drawing Room' last weekend at Thinkspace. I purchased the two prints they were selling at the reception and I am excited to frame them and put them up. This is a very lovely print as well and it also looks nice framed. The framed print will be sold for $380 and the print alone will be $220.

A group show, 'The Drawing Room', curated by the wonderful Audrey Kawasaki, opens this weekend at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles.

This show has an AMAZING lineup of artists. Aside from Audrey herself, there will also be work by Amy Sol, Irana Douer, Kukula, Lilly Piri, Stella Im Hultberg, Catherine Campbell, and many more. It's definitely going to be an awesome show!
