Favorite Artist Etsy Shops

Obviously, Etsy is an amazing marketplace of talent. I am overwhelmed whenever I venture into the thousands upon thousands of shops featuring handmade items. One thing I especially love about Etsy is the ability to purchase work from artists and have the profits go right in their pockets. I love going to gallery shows, but if I can purchase something right from an artist, I'd always prefer it. Here's some of my favorite artist-run Etsy shops.

Axelhoney Jewelry

I am a big fan of the paintings by Melissa Contreras of Axelhoney (her tees are adorable too) and I am super stoked to see she makes jewelry now! There's lots to choose from, it's all original hand crafted designs, and it's available in her Etsy shop!

Melissa Contreras

I have been a big fan of Axelhoney's Melissa Contreras for quite awhile. She has three pieces in the group show "Everything But the Kitschen Sync" (March 6 - March 29) at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles and I want them all!

There's also always great stuff available in her Axelhoney Etsy Shop and a selection of Available Works on her Flickr page.

ISM: SK8OLOGY Auction

I previously posted about the super cool ISM: SK8OLOGY show of one-of-a-kind decks created by over 150 artists, celebrities and skaters. The decks are now up for auction, to support both ISM: a community project, which uses art to enrich our communities, and 'Now That You Know' which provides girls from developing countries a secure environment for learning and growth.

As of this post, the auction has raised $17,636, and their goal is $30,000. There's some amazing pieces up for grabs, including decks by Melissa Contreras, Amy Sol, and Audrey Kawasaki.

Check out all the decks in the auction, and place your bid, here.

Bountee

Axelhoney, yay!

No, not the paper towels, this is an awesome t-shirt company. At Bountee, you submit your designs, they make 'em, sell 'em, and you get some dough in the process. A bit like Threadless, but I don't think there is a voting process involved with Bountee. They have some awesome shirts, at great prices, so head over and check 'em out.

This one is perfect for Dan!

My Favorite Mirror

My apologies for the lack of posting. I released my new Decorama line of vinyl wall art this weekend at CaBoom 4, and almost killed myself stressing out over it in the meantime. ANYWAY... I think it's about time you bought a new pocket mirror, or a new mousepad from the folks over at My Favorite Mirror. Amazing stuff done by oddles of wonderful artists, and it's all so affordable you'll wish you needed 12 mousepads!
