Post-It Show 3 @ Giant Robot

Post-it 3 opens this weekend, December 13th, at GR2 in Los Angeles and features the work of over 95 different artists.

I always love post-it art shows. The pieces are affordable, there are lots to choose from, and they are easy to put up- especially if you buy a few and make a little "post-it collage" on your wall.
Here's the details:
Post-It Show 3 at GR2
December 13, 2008 - January 14, 2009
Reception: Saturday, December 13, 6:30 -10:00

Giant Robot magazine and stores is proud to present Post-It Show 3 at GR2 in Los Angeles. Curated by artists Mark Todd and Esther Pearl Watson and Giant Robot, the exhibition is slated to feature nearly 2,000 works by over 95 noted contributors each starting at only $20. These pieces will be on standard-sized 3" x 3" Post-It notes. (Larger sizes of 4" x 4" and 6" x 6" will also be available.)

GR2 will offer them on a cash and carry basis, so they'll make great holiday gifts.

More than 95 artists will participate, including some TokyoBunnie favorites like:
Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Tigerlily Biskup, Jill Bliss, Martin Cendreda, Allison Cole, Jen Corace, Jordan Crane, Evah Fan, Susie Ghahremani, David Horvath, Daniel Lim, Nikki McClure, Brendan Monroe, Martha Rich, Souther Salazar, Bwana Spoons, Rachell Sumpter, Deth P. Sun, Megan Whitmarsh, APAK!, Bigfoot, Buff Monster, Cupco and many more.

Giant Robot LA & NY Shows this weekend

Opening this weekend at GRNY

Susie Ghahremani Art Show

Teacher’s Pets

August 18, 2007 – September 12, 2007

Saturday, August 18, 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Themes of the show will include patterns and fine detail, animals and nature, and interior spaces with domesticated wildlife. Ghahremani titled it “Teacher’s Pets” because she takes imaginary animals and teaches them how to do her favorite things: play the piano, make origami, ride a bike, swing in a hammock without falling out. Nearly 200 paintings, soft sculptures, unframed line drawings, framed work, wood pieces, and miniatures will be on display.

Opening this weekend at GR2 (LA)

Misaki Kawai Art Show

Sporty Club

August 18 – September 12, 2007

Reception: Saturday, August 18, 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Kawai, who splits her time between Osaka and New York City, has a playful, youthful style that is applied on a grown-up scale. Her naïve-looking sculptures built from cardboard, fabric, found objects, and 99-cent-store purchases resemble children’s drawings come to life. Likewise, her illustration is raw but powerful and innocent but smart. Her work has shown at Boston’s ICA and Houston’s MFA as well as a Macy’s window in New York City. It has also been reproduced in publications by McSweeney’s, Watarium, and The Ganzfield, as well as T-shirts by 2K Gingham.

This will be her first solo show in Los Angeles.

My Favorite Mirror

My apologies for the lack of posting. I released my new Decorama line of vinyl wall art this weekend at CaBoom 4, and almost killed myself stressing out over it in the meantime. ANYWAY... I think it's about time you bought a new pocket mirror, or a new mousepad from the folks over at My Favorite Mirror. Amazing stuff done by oddles of wonderful artists, and it's all so affordable you'll wish you needed 12 mousepads!

'Bird Call' at Giant Robot this weekend!

BIRD CALL, a solo art show by Susie Ghahremani at GR2
November 11th - December 6th. Opening night is November 11th, 6:30-10pm

The GR press release:
Ghahremani is a RISD graduate who has contributed work to Nickelodeon, Chronicle Books, and The New York Times, and is featured in this year’s American Illustration publication. Illustrations by the San Diego artist have a patchwork appearance that is simple in design, complex in execution, and all-around pleasing to the eye. In addition to making two-dimensional art, she crafts tote bags, buttons, wallets, stationery, and other goodies.
For Bird Call, Ghahremani is creating an expanded collection of animals, invented creatures, patterns, and color studies. There will be about 150 gouache paintings on wood, board, and paper. Dimensions range from “mini” to “not so mini.”
